Coffee Butterscotch Cake

I’m supposed to post one my three chicken recipes, on which I organised a poll before. But, I was craving for a cake, and came up with this. I’ll post chicken recipe soon.

And in my never ending quest to understand baking and making pastries, bread and cakes, I decided to make a cake again, while twisting the flavours. Its a simple recipe which you can play around to get a wonderful symphony between coffee and butterscotch / Vanilla.

But first, Ingredients!

Ingredients

  1. Flour – 2.5 cups
  2. Sugar – 1 cup
  3. Baking powder – 1 spoon
  4. Salt – 1 spoon
  5. Cocoa powder – 2 spoons
  6. Milk – 1 cup
  7. Butter  – 1 cup / 100 gms [unsalted]
  8. Buttermilk  – 1/2 cup
  9. Instant coffee, instant – 1 & 1/2 spoon
  10. Butterscotch flavour – 1 spoon

French Vanilla Chocolate Cake

Last night I was at McCafé, sipping Americano coffee with a vanilla chocolate muffin. After paying a hefty price for the same, I decided I’ll make one. I went text book. Here’s the how to part.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all purpose flour [maida]
  2. 2 eggs
  3. 1/4 cup sugar
  4. 1/2 cup butter
  5. 1 cup milk
  6. 1/2 cup buttermilk
  7. Chocolate chips
  8. French Vanilla flavour
  9. 1 table spoon cocoa
  10. Baking powder [1 tablespoon]
  11. Salt (1/2 table spoon)
  12. Red food colour [optional]

Step 1 The dry ingredients

Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in one bowl. and mix them.
